| ACT NOW OR PAY THE PRICE! If you are being sued, have been arrested or your spouse has filed for divorce, it is important that you take action immediately. Failure to act immediately may result in you missing a deadline, one which you might not even know exists. Not only do you have to respond quickly, but you have to do it correctly, in proper form or your response will not count! Here are some examples: * Divorce - if you fail to respond by the deadline, a default may be entered against you, which means your spouse could get everything and you get nothing! * Custody & Support - if you fail to show for your hearing or respond properly, you may lose custody of your children, you may lose child support, you may be made to pay higher child support, etc. * Drunk Driving, DUI, OWI - if you fail to notify the DOT or Court within 10 days of the arrest, there are consequences that could result in you losing your license automatically for an extended period of time. Failure to appear at your hearing may result in a default judgment of guilt/conviction may be entered against you, or you may be arrested on a warrant, or you may even be charged with the crime of bail jumping for failing to appear! * Civil Lawsuit - if you fail to properly respond on time you the court will grant judgment against you and you will be forced to pay huge amounts of money, often times tens of thousands of dollars or more, losing any personal or real property that you may have been sued for, etc. * Criminal Arrest - if you fail to respond and don't show up for your hearing, you may be found in contempt, you may be charged with another crime, bail jumping, you may have your bond revoked and have to sit in jail until your case is over, you may have your bond increased to a large cash bond, one which you likely won't be able to post to get out, etc. |
